Crawley School Sport Partnership was established in September 2004 as part of the Physical Education, School Sport and Club Links (PESSCL) Strategy. Expansion in September 2005 ensured that every school in Crawley was included within the Partnership.
Crawley School Sport Partnership consists of 7 cluster groups, each including one secondary school and 3 to 5 primary schools. The hub of the partnership is Thomas Bennett Community College, the specialist Sports College for Crawley. School Sports Coordinators (SSCos) support each cluster for two days per week, working closely with the secondary PE department and a Primary Link Teacher (PLT) in each primary school. (See cluster map)
We are now moving forward with the new Physical Education and Sport Strategy for Young People (PESSYP; 2008-2011) to deliver the Government's Public Service Agreement 22 (PSA 22).
PSA 22: Deliver a successful Olympic Games and Paralympic Games with a sustainable legacy and get more children and young people taking part in high quality PE and sport.
‘In addition to at least 2 hours per week of high quality PE and Sport in school for all 5 - 16 year olds, all children and young people aged 5 - 19 will be offered opportunities to participate in a further 3 hours per week of sporting activities provided through schools, Further Education Colleges, clubs, voluntary and community providers.
This will create a sustainable legacy both in terms of future elite success and grassroots sport'
