On 1st October 2009, Crawley School Sport Partnership and Crawley Rugby Club were joined by 11 CrawleyPrimary School teams for a Tag Rugby Development Festival at Crawley’s Willoughby Fields Ground.The sunny day got off to a great start with all of the schools taking part in some expert coaching provided by the high quality coaches that were involved for the day. Students learned skills that were necessary for the game and given advice and tips which helped reinforce the rules of Tag.After a break for lunch, the competition got underway and the teams were divided to compete in either a year 3/4 or year 5/6 competition. Teams were keen to show off their newly learned skills and games were exciting to watch. Referees did their best to keep games flowing, and the competitions saw a healthy number of tries scored.The year 3/4 competition was close between the top three teams and Gossops Green A team were pushed into second place by a victorious Our Lady A team. The year 5/6 event was equally as close with three teams on similar points but it was Three Bridges Juniors who clinched the win over Gossops Green A team.A great day was had by all, with each player who participated being awarded a certificate and goody bag provided by Crawley Rugby Club.
